AEK Vs BHR

BHR –V- AEK

5 – 0 – 10/10/04

This was always going to be a difficult day for those who had a connection with AEK in the past. But I feel that our preparation and attitude to the whole day was spot on, and I think the boys understood what this game meant to me personally.  The game started at a very high tempo and there were some rather strong challenges from both sides and it took a while for the game to settle down, once we started to win our battle we started to play football. Tony putting us 1-0 up, AEK kept working hard but our strength throughout the team started to tell, and Ali made it 2-0 after a well worked corner. We had a chance to make it 3-0 after Reece was brought down in the penalty area after some great wing play. Ali stepped up and scored but it was disallowed because our boys were judged to have entered the penalty area, the re-take was saved and Ali was unfortunate not to convert the follow up, after some brave goalkeeping.  But the battle was still on and the tackles were still fierce. The well organised Bush Hill limited AEK to only one shot on target which was comfortably saved by Taylan. We were winning all the battles all over the park and never looked liked conceding and in fact we added a third late in the first half by Rishi to make it 3-0.

In the second half AEK refused to lie down, and the game was 100 miles per hour. But our strength and determination along with our passing was too much for them.  We scored our fourth after Tommy’s shot was deflected for Ali to header in for 4-0. By then they looked a beaten team, with a few minutes to go Alex made it 5-0.  From kick-off to the final whistle the Bush Hill boys stuck to their motto “No Battle, No Glory!”

I told the boys at the end of the match that they made me very proud with their attitude and hard work.  Well done to all the boys, with a mention for James who playing out of position but never let his team down and if AEK’s forwards were to play for a week they would still have not got past him.

Today’s Man Of The Match – Ali.

Well done Boys!
