Today’s game started quite evenly but Bush Hill Rangers soon settled and we started to create a few chances. Our movement off the ball was good and we used the ball well.  Rishi putting us 1-0 ahead after ten minutes. We looked in control with both wide players causing Ashton problems and I feel we created enough chances to be at least 3 or 4 up.  However, Ashton’s two strikers worked hard together and were very physical and our back four had to give as good as they got!  Their strikers’ hard work paid off just before half time and scored to make it 1-1 at half time.

I was pleased with the way we were playing and told the boys at half time to just keep doing what they were doing, and we would get the right result. The boys came out in the second half with the right attitude believing in themselves and as a team.  We were well in control with both wingers terrorising their defence, when Kielan made it 2-1. Alex added our third after 47 minutes.  Ashton Wednesday struggled to keep up with the hard work that we were putting in, and they found Danny a real handful! With his pace, aggression and willingness to get back and help his team mates in defence.  We were in total control when Eliot made it 4-1.

The game was quite physical, and there were many battles going on all over the park. Our back four needed to concentrate and fight to enable our creative players to express themselves.  Robin made it 5-1 with a few minutes to go.

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect today from a team we haven’t played yet.  I was keen to see how the boys would react after last week’s defeat, and I was looking for a positive reaction. I knew before kick off that we would be awarded a 3-0 win as Ashton Wednesday have not registered their players, I was more interested in the performance than the result. If we had lost today, I would have been proud of the way the boys’ worked and believed in themselves.  Well done Boys!

Today’s Man Of The Match = Danny, they literally could not handle him!
