Shiners Vs BHR

SHINERS 2 Vs BUSH HILL RANGERS 8

20/02/05

Whenever we have played Shiners in the past it’s always been close and hard fought and today’s game started that way. Both teams took time to settle but after 12 minutes Rishi put us 1-0 up, and even after Alex made it 2-0 on 18 minutes, Shiners never gave up. They quickly responded with a goal. The game continued to be tight, with both teams working hard.  Then we scored one of the best teams goals so far, Taylan fed Andrew on the edge of our box, who then worked a one-two with Danny, Andrew skipped past a defender by their corner flag and drove the ball hard and low to the near post where Rishi arrived on cue to tap in from close range! This goal really pleased me as we had been working on overlapping and getting the ball into the box early in training, and this goal proved that the hard work we do in training will pay off in a game. Tommy added our fourth goal just before half time, half time score 4-1.

We came out in the second half and we were in total control after Alex added two quick goals to make it 6-1.  After a slight lapse in concentration Shiners scored to make it 6-2.  Tommy added his second of the game on 49 minutes.  In the dying seconds we were awarded a penalty after some strong wing play by Robin, who was fouled in the box for a clear penalty. He picked himself up and calmly slotted the ball home to make it a final score of 8-2 to the Bush Hill.

I was very pleased with all the boys today, even though some were playing out of position they all worked for each other.  It was a bitterly cold day but it was warmed up by the performance of all the boys but especially Robin who was playing on the left and well-out of his position, he was dangerous going forward and aggressive coming back. Well done.

Today’s Man Of The Match = Robin.
