BUSH HILL RANGERS -v- SHINERS

Score: 8  - 0

2/10/05

Today we were up against a team that we have faced many times before, so we knew that this was to be a physical game as both teams have always worked hard.

I could not have asked for a better start, within seconds of Shiners kicking off, Tashan latched onto a loose ball and with his pace tore into the Shiners defence making it 1-0 within seconds! Shiners were clearly rocked, and our chances continued to come thick and fast. Within minutes Alex made it 2-0, Shiners responded with a long range effort which was comfortably saved by Taylan, who then got the ball quickly up the other end with Danny’s hard work we were awarded a corner. The ball was whipped in and Ali rose to meet it with a fierce header that was scrambled clear.  We continued  to create chances with Danny coming close, then Tashan’s pace rattled them again as he got his second.  Five minutes later a well worked move ended with a great strike by Tommy to make it 4-0.  Shiners were still fighting but our defence remained solid.  Just before the break after some great pressure Shiners scored an own goal, 5-0.

At half time the boys were reminded that if we believed in our ability we were untouchable but also to concentrate as Shiners are a team that never give up.

The second half started and within minutes Eliot came close followed by both Robin and Kielan forcing their keeper to make saves.  We were awarded another corner from which Kielan forced the ball home from close range to make it 6-0. Shortly after from another corner Alex attacked the ball and volleyed to make it 7-0. Shiners never gave up and were awarded a penalty late in the game. I felt that if we conceded a goal today it would be unfair to our hardworking defence with a debut for Tony who worked tirelessly all game. The determination not to concede was shown once again as Taylan refused to be beaten with a great save from the penalty!  Shiners were clearly beaten and down.  There were minutes left when Alex scored another great goal to finish off the scoring 8-0.  Well Done Boys, the attitude and spirit was spot on! We were scoring for fun but we never lost concentration and the will to Win!

Today’s Man Of The Match - Tashan - a boy who knows where the goal is, whose pace was too much to handle!
