BUSH HILL RANGERS –v- BOCA

Before we kicked off today, I pointed out to the boys that although we have already been crowned Champions, Boca were still fighting to improve their position in the league. I told the boys that I wanted them to be as focused today as they have been all season.

The game kicked off and for the first ten minutes or so, it was a scrappy affair with both teams finding it difficult to settle.  Chances were few and far between for both sides.  Midway through the first half, Rodney showed great pace and persistence to make it 1-0 to Bush Hill.  Boca’s response was a free kick on the edge of our box, with their shot skimming the top of the cross bar. Once we had scored the Bush Hill boys seemed more relaxed and our passes began to find their intended targets, and after a good move Alex soon made it 2-0, and it wasn’t long before Jamel added our third from a corner. By now the Bush Hill boys were stroking the ball around and were looking like the Champions that they are! Just before half time Rodney got his second to make it 4-0 at half time.

The second half kicked off and it wasn’t long before Bush Hill were back into their stride.  Rodney soon completed his hat-trick to make it 5-0 to Bush Hill.  Suddenly the Boca boys began to play, and after a good move they forced a great save by Taylan.  The pressure was mounting and Boca were awarded a penalty,  this would be the third time that Bush Hill had played Boca, and the third time that Boca were awarded a penalty against us, and for the third time, they failed to score!  Boca were awarded a corner, which was whipped in, and only a goal line clearance from Jamel prevented them from scoring. This was a good spell for Boca and after another free kick on the edge of our box, the Bush Hill boys had switched off for a moment and somehow the Boca striker found himself on his own in our six yard box, this time Taylan had no chance as the ball flew past him 5-1.  The response I got was positive, the boys even though they were Champions, conceding a goal still hurt, they were angry at their own sloppy play.  The Bush Hill boys moved the ball quickly and with purpose and after a corner to Bush Hill Baris made it 6-1. Boca were soon chasing shadows again, as the Bush Hill boys were too fast and too furious! With Tashan adding two more goals in quick succession making the score 8-1. With moments to go Danny completed the scoring after a good run, final score 9-1 to Bush Hill.

Once again, the boys showed great team spirit, along with a hunger to win!
